Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to support our Life Insurance core system

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in COBOL programming and experience working with insurance-related applications

Responsibilities:
– Maintain and enhance existing COBOL-based life insurance core system
– Develop new COBOL programs as required for system improvements
– Debug and resolve issues in the production environment
– Collaborate with business analysts to translate requirements into technical specifications
– Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
– Document code changes and system modifications
Minimum Qualifications
Key Requirements:
– Minimum 5 years of experience in COBOL programming
– Proficiency in IBM AIX operating system environments
– Experience with DB2 and SQL
– Familiarity with life insurance business processes and terminology
– Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Additional Skills:
– Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
– Understanding of data migration and integration techniques
– Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN, BitBucket)
Preferred Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
– Experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) will be an advantage for potential future system migrations
– Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements
– Certifications in COBOL programming or mainframe technologies
